Fans enjoy symmetry of Dopapod, a jam band coming to Infinity Hall March 21
The music group Dopapod, which formed as a duo at Berklee College of Music in Boston a dozen years ago, has kept its cachet as a jam band of progressive rock. They just make cool music, as you can see in a visit to Infinity Hall in Hartford Saturday, March 21.
The heady connection to those who enjoy puzzles is the band’s symmetry: Its name and each of its seven albums bear a palindromic name — the same frontward and backward: “Radar,” “Drawn Onward,” “Redivider,” “Never Odd or Even,” “Megagem” and “Emit Time.”
Aha! Wow. Get in your racecar or Civic. Don’t nod. Step on no pets. No lemon, no melon.
Anway, the band also consciously juggles the darker tones of heavy rock with lighthearted humor; synthesizing elements of funk, jazz, electronica and whatever else — from intense dance to thoughtful contemplation, notes one description.
Also playing Saturday will be futuristic funk fusion trio Muscle Tough.
Infinity Hall, 32 Front St., Hartford. Saturday, March 21, 8 p.m., $37-$22. 860-542-5531.
